BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Yap Phing Cern
Chief Executive Officer
Mr Yap graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Washington State University, Washington, USA and began his career in 1987 as an Executive Assistant to the Managing Director of a quarry operator in Johor. He joined the Group in 1989 as a Director, taking charge of the sawmill operations. He has more than ten (10) years of experience in timber manufacturing and logging industry. He was also actively involved in palm oil estate operation and management, and oil palm development and cultivation.
He joined the Board of Golden Land Berhad as an Executive Director on 26 December 2001 and was appointed as the Managing Director on 14 November 2002. On 7 May 2004, he has been redesignated as Chief Executive Officer. Mr Yap oversees the Group’s operations and is also involved in the planning, formulation and implementation of the Group’s business strategies.
Yap Fei Chien (Ms.)
Executive Director
Ms Yap graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Management Information System from Oklahoma State University, USA and holds a Master of Business Administration from University of South Alabama, USA. She joined the Board of Golden Land Berhad on 7 March 2002 and also serves as the member of the Remuneration Committee.
Ms Yap joined the group in 1999 as a Manager overseeing the Administration and Credit/Finance function of the timber manufacturing operation and she currently oversees the Group’s Human Resources and Administration function.
PROPERTY DIVISION
Ng Heng Phai
Chief Operating Officer
Mr Ng holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration & Economics from Simon Fraser University, British Columbia, Canada and has been involved in the property industry since graduating in 1981.
Mr Ng was with Mah Sing Group for the last 20 years and his last position was as the Director of Business Development and Research where he evaluated and proposed feasibility studies on potential land purchases as part of the company’s land banking exercise. Before his promotion to his last position in Mah Sing, he has been involved in Mah Sing’s projects since joining in 1995 and has held various Senior positions within the Group including as the Chief Operating Officer for Mah Sing Properties, setting up the Procurement and Research department and spearheading the Marketing and Sales department.
He has also been involved in more than 30 projects of different developments throughout the country and holds various capacities in other public listed company namely Sunway City Berhad and Lion Group, and other private companies. He has more than 34 years of experience in the property industry. He has been exposed to both high end niche products and township developments with good working knowledge of residential, commercial and industrial sectors.
Ir. Tung Chun Yung
Project Director
Graduated with a Bachelor Degree of Science (Civil Engineering) from the University of Akron, Ohio, USA, Ir. Tung has more than 20 years of experience in Construction & Property Development. He started his career in 1987 as Deputy Project Manager with Perkasa Construction Sdn Bhd and he was responsible for the development of the Sandakan Water Supply Extension Project under the employment of Jabatan Air Sabah. Prior to this appointment he was the Project Manager for Sandakan Harbour Square –Phase 1. Apart from these projects, he was also the Project Engineer for the development of Sutera Harbour Resort, Kota Kinabalu Water Supply Privatization Project, Sandakan Port Expansion Project and many others, just to name a few.
Ir. Tung is a registered member of Board of Engineers Malaysia and a registered member with Institution of Engineers Malaysia.
Low Yat Seow
Technical Advisor
Mr Low graduated with a First Class Honors in Engineering from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Business Administration majoring in Finance from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, USA. He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Computing from Monash University, Australia.
Mr Low has more than 30 years of experience in project management, construction and property development. Some of the notable projects under his portfolio include the development of Mahkota Medical Center in Malacca, Petronas Filharmonik Hall in KLCC, as well as Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie. Mr Low also involved in the infrastructural design of the affluent township of Taman TunDr Ismail in Kuala Lumpur and is knowledgeable in IBS system.
He is also one of the National Committee members for FIABCI Malaysia Chapter.
Tham Kai Ling
Assistant General Manager
Mr Tham holds a Bachelor Degree in Commerce from the University of Western Australia, Perth in 1999. A registered Chartered Accountant with Malaysia Institute of Accountants (MIA) and also a member of CPA Australia, he began his career with Ernst & Young before joining Golden Land Berhad – Plantation Division in 2002.
Mr Tham has various exposures from Account and Finance up to internal audit. He is also one of the team members to initiate the development of Midtown Plaza project in Sandakan – the first, successful commercial project by Goldenland.
He is now appointed to Assistant General Manager at the Property Division.
